Well that was fun! For my first Substack Live, Katharine K. Wilkinson of Human on Earth and I recapped our recent shared experience at the Plum Village Zen Buddhist monastery in France. We traveled there earlier this month for a mindfulness retreat for climate and nature leaders with 200 other professionals whose work is in the service of life on planet Earth. Watch the video above for our discussion that describes the background to the retreat and monastery itself as well as our reflections on what practices and insights from the Buddhist teachings left the biggest mark on our minds, bodies and hearts. At a time when working on climate and nature protection carries a huge psychic toll for many of us, these lessons of transformation were an immense gift. We hope that this little transmission provides you with some mindfulness practices and ideas that you’ll find worthwhile for your own inner and outer work in climate and related fields.
Thank you to Global Optimism, Plum Village for making it all possible and more thanks to attendees Kimberly Nicholas, Brian Cali, Mandy Len Catron, Sally Gillespie, Kira Walker, and many others for tuning into my live video with Katharine K. Wilkinson!
In community spirit,
Britt
