Thank you to both of you for sharing your reflections on the deep and vital links between the philosophy and feeling of connection and unity one the one hand and empathy and compassion for other human beings on the other. For me it is precisely this cultivation of the link between our essential oneness and the work we do to create and sustain better living conditions for all that is so very vitally important.
Please DO make this a consistent practice for a community to gather inside of! These can be like little plum villages to recall (1) the power of Stillpoints found in Mother Nature (2) daily practice with dharma texts mantras or other spiritual anchoring devices that are not electronic but create resonant sound to calm our nervous nervous systems (3) a consistent alliance with other spiritual creative beings who are both dedicated in their dharma and willing to show up in sharing the sorrow and the joy in healing with Nature and restoring the way we show respect for the planet. Thank you both for leading the way with words and inspirational ancestral wisdoms - i vote yes for more of this kind of Zenπ
P.s. I loved both your books Generation Dread and All we can Save and think of them as bibles (without going too religious because if we talk about the rights of nature we will either be labelled an eco terrorist or guilty of climate religiosity or maybe they will say we are guilty of heresy. But i like the idea of you all continuing your podcast and making it a monthly event so lets be Zen rebels who love silent retreats and sacred places - like Plum Village and other brave spaces ππβ€οΈ
Britt, it has been a long while since we have communicated, but I wanted to share that your video conversation with Katharine Wilkinson was fabulous. I received much from your sharing. I am finishing a book myself over the next few months and I realized that a slowing of my mind is needed, a more intuitive approach, rather than relying on my task-oriented, save the world energy as the fuel for completing it. I am sharing your video with my team, which works very hard and deserves lots of self care. I believe they will also gain from the insights and examples you two offered of how to apply the mindfulness you practiced at Plum Village and continue to practice back in your home spaces. Well done and keep up the great work!
Michael, so lovely to hear from you! I hope you're doing well. Thanks for your comment, I hope the video offers something helpful for your team. Please share your book when it's ready, would love to discover what you've been thinking/feeling/doing as of late.
