Beautiful conversation! As Kritee says, spiritual connectedness is not just a balm during the grief of a polycrisis, it's also the beginning of the solution. Especially in the consumer-centric US, if we want people to live in walkable communities, consume less, and focus on environmental impact, they have to have something to replace the suburban/isolationist/consumerist model we've been forcing them into for 80 years. That thing, of course, is community.
Yes! I love your reflection on spiritual connection as the "beginning of the solution." So many people share this realisation;I have a deep intuition that this new reality wants to be realised within and between us, we may just have some rather messy midwifery to do first...
Wonderful! Thank you. ! I think in the west we often feel inadequate when it comes to offering prayers. I had a fire and asked a friend if she wanted to offer a prayer. She thot a minute then said, a bit apologetically that "this.might sound trite, but I want to ask for peace". Please don't stiffle your prayers because they sound trite! The prayers don't have to be profound. Just repeat the same prayer.over.and over again. That's fine!
Was talking with my daughter this evening, about how there has been in the past such an intuitive atunement to plants that the indigenous instantaneously enters a vast compendium of knowledge. This was by way of a feeble attempt to suggest that there have been alternative human ways of relating to the world. And in the context of over-arching human induced threats of mass extinction, and her small boy’s recent aggressive behaviours targeting a class mate.
I was gesturing to that which seems utterly negated by, what seems to be, endemic and insane levels of primate grouping aggression.
I pointed to the laws and ways of grouping by our forebears on this land. At least sixty thousand years. At least one ice age. No doubt, countless genocides. Yet the human ‘technology’ of complex cross and within clan and tribal relationships developed-and identification with their cousin life forms, both created country AND seem purposely designed to prevent further genocides.
Kritee refers to a ‘quantum’ development in human awareness. We are for sure all connected.
Several years ago, at 3:20 in the morning I was driven up and out of a deep sleep by great waves of grief. I ‘knew’ instantly that it was the great indigenous songman, Uncle Archie, who had just died. A sorry time.
Many untrained humans have comparable experiences. I have had many.
I undertook a commitment to my daughter, and to her son to be more present and kind/loving with him. Hell and the resurrection of Moloch notwithstanding.

Love this: "please don't stifle your prayers." A beautiful exhortation!

And to resume meditating.
Thanks for this report.
