Oh how I understand the fears and anxiety of the people who posted the questions. I became a sustainability consultant in 2012 because I had (and still have) the same fears. I’m happy to know more people are discussing these dire issues. I go through the highs of optimism and the lows of pessimism every week. I cannot give in to giving up- for my grown children and yours. I walk my talk and I don’t care about the opinions/beliefs of those that stick their heads in the sand. Just know that I stand with you to fight the battle everyday. 💛
Thanks for this insightful suggestions. I'm a musician who just released an album "Climate Stories". A collection of songs from the perspective of activists and scientists.
Judging ourselves for feelings of despair will not help us. and climate anxiety is just a rational response to a dire situation, not a mental illness. I'm comforted by reading these comments, and feel a less alone in a world that often seems dismissive.
Digital Hobo Climate Stories! Those are amazing words when all strung together like that. Thanks for sharing your music here, I'm sure many readers would be interested.
This is a constant struggle for me. My friends and family, who claim to care about climate change, are the most frustrating for me. For example, seven years ago I made a pledge with Flight Free USA to stop flying during the climate crisis (one seat, one flight, one ton of carbon!). They know they “shouldn’t” but continue to fly for reasons that are purely discretionary. They are continuing to act as though their individual actions don’t matter. I have stopped trying to convince them to change their behavior and hope that eventually they will be motivated to act.
Thank you! I feel like you wrote this just for me :)
So glad to hear it lands for you

Me too, every week, big amplitude between the highs and lows when confronting these issues. Thanks for being here.

It's hard. But good for you for knowing when to stop trying to convince them, since trying to persuade others often doesn't work.
Amazing. I always feel more grounded after reading Caroline's measured and compassionate writing. Thank you so very much.
She's such a gem.
