Thank you Nicholas, and Britt for your work. It astounds me that so many of us turn away and pretend that none of this is happening. It's heart-breaking, and mind-blowing and devastating in so many ways. But I'm forever grateful for those who do the work anyway, regardless of the frustration. Kudos to the heroes who keep showing up.

thank you for your response, Elaine. The beauty in such difficult and dire situation is that there are so many people out there like you who care and act. Let's try to get the momentum back to our side, which is simply about carying for the future of our kids and - I hope - a more altruistic way of living where life on planet matters.

When the dogs of war are about to be unleashed, all talk of climate mitigation goes out the window since the defense industry and armies are the biggest polluters of all. Im afraid that we’ll need a really big mass casualties event to wake us from our climate stupor…P

Phil, in my opinion it is not about a ranking of "who is the worst" it is about the collective approach of tackling a crisis in its entirety. I think the UN SG has been right in calling it a triple planetary crisis which relates to climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. These crisis also relate. It's without alternative that we all keep trying and we have to bring an end to the fossil fuel era.

Looking back to the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3): the conference commitments to protect and save the ocean lack far behind the steps that would have been necessary to decide. And while this may not be a huge surprise, it tells us that we need to upscale our efforts.

Yes, of course, there have been some glimpses of hope for our oceans and their inhabitants, relating to international efforts (regarding adopting and implementing certain treaties, criticism over deep-sea mining, efforts to address ocean noise etc.). But when it comes to addressing the oil and gas industry, countries remain weak. At least we had the opportunity to address and voice our concerns in Plenary towards country representatives, presenting the call supported by 208 NGOs globally.

You can watch the intervention here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJT6ENMQeBg

In addition, I’d like to thank you for your support of our petition. Finally, we were able handing over 114 559 signatures (which has grown to over 116 450 in the meantime) to United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for the Ocean Peter Thomson, who was deeply impressed by OceanCares efforts and the support of the public. THANK YOU for supporting our call to protect the Oceans with your signature and making change possible – Because our Planet is Blue!
