Listening to people we don't agree with! I struggle with green events here in the UK that happen in public where those who are active join together and make no attempt to engage with all the people walking by. Seems like such a missed opportunity!
Thanks for this important conversation! I am reminded of the "One Small Step" program by "Storycorps" and so I signed up for a conversation with someone with very different views from mine. I will use "deep listening" and try to maintain all of the good considerations you have highlighted in this discussion! Fingers crossed~
Thank you for Unthinkable, dr. Brit! I agree with you and Matthew a hundred percent that this is the leading edge of climate action and climate communications. I appreciate how you offer us insights in your books that help us be better resourced in HOW we communicate about the state of our Ecology with greater consciousness about our inner world response to our collective meta crises! When you blend this with Matthew’s insights from his own intergenerational healing and trauma informed perspective, it seems to me we are headed in the right direction.
I found By healing our own fragmentations, my own perspectives shift so i am not driven by my own sense of alarm or fear we are all doomed if we don’t convert the masses or champion the underdogs by doing a heroic save. I can be grounded and present to the truth… This is a marathon not a sprint…or maybe it is IronWoman and we need to meet in Hawaii for a team meet up (haha but seriously😊). Thank you for your insightful guides and substack chats with Matthew Green!
